About Motivity

At Motivity we understand that all our clients have different electric motor or generator requirements for their products. Our aim is to understand these and to work with the client, whether it is to design in enhanced new features or to reduce costs.

We recognise the need for commercial as well as technical aspects to be taken into consideration with all aspects of the design and take time to understand our clients’ business as well as product.

What We Do

With our fourteen years of experience working directly with OEM's on the development of Motor and Generator solutions, our services will enhance your products through optimisation to the application.

Motor & Generator Design

Key to the design of an optimal solution is the development of a full understanding of our clients' needs. This goes beyond the technical requirement to include the commercial, aesthetic and market position of the product. Cost is important for almost all products, and the motor or generator can represent a significant part of the total material cost and therefore features that increase the cost must be commercially justified. It is only by understanding this at the design stage that features of value can be selected and developed.

Our approach is therefore to gain an in depth understanding of the needs of the motor/generator at the initial stage through meeting and discussing the application, the product and the market position. It is only then that a clear specification of the requirements is developed.

With the understanding gained, a solution can be derived based on existing products in the market or through a bespoke design solution.

Motor testing and Characterisation

We can test the performance and heat rise of motors, either as part of a larger project or separately. We can also test the motor in the application, if a sample unit is supplied, to enable the performance and heat rise is acceptable in the final application.

Prototype Creation

In order to be able to realise proof of concept or obtain performance requirements the ability to rapidly produce prototypes is available.

Through both in-house machining capability and the use of key suppliers and subcontractors, prototypes of new designs can cost effectively be produced.

Motor Supply

For low volume specialist motors we can manufacture in house, or in addition we can help with the sourcing of motors or components through the extensive network of partners and know suppliers.
